Seminar on Data Visualization

The great variety and volume of data that is being produced nowadays require understanding, analyzing, and interpreting the data in its context in order to produce meaningful information. To this end it is necessary to be able to create a narrative that allows the final user of the information to understand what the information means, and to combine it with images, texts, and other interactive resources.

Data visualization is a powerful communicative resource that can be used in many different ways, including as an analytical tool. That is why INEGI and CIMAT join efforts to organize this Seminar: a series of activities that allow understanding the state of the art of data visualization and covering the different needs.

To cover different data visualization needs through conferences in which different possibilities of data visualization will be presented.

• 1) Get an insight of different aspects of communication skills such as Graphical Literacy, Infographic Storytelling and Creative Data Visualization.
• 2) Present advances and challenges in national statistical offices.
• 3) Present tools to make effective visualization.

Activities will consist of conferences from two types of specialists: professors from the academia and national statistical offices.

People involved in the elaboration of the results of the production process of statistics and geographic information; IT personal, designers, communicators, academics and post graduate students, interested in data visualization workshops.
